Commercial food equipment is judged on food safety / cleanability and electrical product safety. Passing one does not retire the other.
| Track | Typical references | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Hygienic / sanitation | NSF/ANSI family (equipment-specific) | Materials, cleanability, zones, splash |
| Electrical safety | UL/CSA product standards | Shock, fire, abnormal operation |
Bakeries and powder handling can create combustible dust hazards. That pushes you into DHA / area classification / Ex equipment — a third track beyond NSF/UL.
Usually not for commercial kitchen AHJs. Expect NRTL listing and often NSF (or equivalent) sanitation evidence.
